Currently licensed in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Florida, Texas, Colorado and MIssouri, Gilberta Dorsey has been in the Financial Service Industry for over 22 years. She started her career at the former AG Edwards& Sons, in Quincy, IL, where she was the only person ever to attain the company’s most prestigious award of Chairman’s Counsel. While at Edwards, Gilberta earned the designation of Trust Specialist, and co-authored two nationally published articles for the Director, the official publication of the National Funeral Directors’ Association, held fund raisers for Quanada, a local Woman’s Shelter, and has been a well-known speaker on Motivation as well as areas of the Financial arena at Women’s conferences, local churches, clubs, and organizations. She has been featured locally as well as in Smart Money, a publication of the Wall Street Journal and Today’s Chicago Woman.

Gilberta brought to Quincy the opening of new Branch offices of both Stifel Nicolaus and Morgan Stanley; both of which she managed. While at Stifel, she was instrumental in facilitating the development of Prairie Crossings, a shopping area which brought such stores as Kohls, TJ Max and Best Buy to Quincy. She was the “go to” person between the Quincy City Counsel, Quincy Mayor Chuck Scholz, local owners and developers, the Mays family of Quincy, as well as prestigious outside developers, The Sansone Group from ST. Louis and the Orix Real Estate Capital Group from Chicago. Gilbera also attained the certification of Financial Divorce Practitioner, through the College of Certified Financial Divorce Practitioners, DePaul University; Chicago, IL.

In 2006, Gilberta accepted a position with Allstate Financial, as Senior Regional Sales Consultant for the South East Region. She traveled throughout Georgia, Alabama, North and South Carolina helping financial professionals with complex presentations as well as being featured speaker at customer events, particularly on “Women and Investing” and general financial principles.

In 2007, Gilberta’s strong desire to share her talents in Financial Services brought her back to Quincy, and Abundant Life Investments, Your “ALI” in the world of Investing, got its beginning. “ALI” is a full service broker, offering stocks, bonds, mutual funds, annuities, life, disability, and health insurance, alternative investments; most everything in the financial services arena.

Gilberta is a member of the Quincy Chamber of Commerce, serving on the Legislative committee, American Business Women, Quincy Art Center, Quincy Society of Fine Arts, Quincy Preserves, League of Women Voters, The Elks, and The Church of St Peter, where she is a lector and sings in the choir. Gilberta is former Chairman of the Quincy Convention and Visitors Bureau, former board member of Quincy Catholic Charities, and Members First Credit Union. She is a former board member of the Miss Quincy pageant, and currently serves on the board of the Miss Heart of Illinois Pageant, held in the Peoria, Il area; both of which are preliminaries for Miss Illinois, divisions of the Miss America Scholarship Program. She has judged many local and state competitions, including Miss Hannibal, also affiliated with Miss America. She has been an MC for many local events, including the Brown County Walk for cancer, hosted a public affairs television program on the local CBS affiliate, as well as hosted on air fund raising for the WQEC, WMEC and WSEC, area public television stations

Family values and integrity are very important to Gilberta. The oldest daughter of Gilbert and Inez McNeff, she grew up on a farm near Siloam Springs State Park. Gilberta learned a very special kind of responsibility at an early age. Gib and Inez are long time farmers and business owners. Gib holds the record for tenure as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, and it is believed Inez is the oldest working salon owner in the country.
Gilberta is the mother of two daughters, Roni VanAusdall, a graduate of Illinois State University and Drake Law is the owner of VanAusdall Law, in Pekin, IL and Rene VanAusdall, a graduate of Hannibal LaGrange College, (now University), earning a degree in communications with an emphasis on PR. Rene is the office manager, responsible for day to day operations of the law firm.

Daughter Roni blessed Gilberta with her first grandchild, Beckham Hunter December 1, 2010.
