Gilberta Dorsey has been in the financial service industry for over 20 years. She started her career at the former AG Edwards & Sons, in Quincy, IL where she was the only person from Quincy to ever attain their most prestigious award of Chairman’s Counsel. While at Edwards, Gilberta also earned the designation of Trust Specialist. Additionally, Gilberta co-authored two nationally published articles for The Director, the official publication of the National Funeral Directors Association, held several fund raisers for the Quanada, the local Women’s Shelter, and has been a prominent speaker for Women’s Conferences at local churches, future business leaders at local high schools and a motivational speaker at Chaddock, an alternative home and school for troubled youth from the surrounding area. She has also been featured in Smart Money, a publication of the Wall Street Journal and Today's Chicago Woman.

Gilberta later brought to Quincy the opening of new Branch offices for Morgan Stanley and Stifel Nicolas, both of which she managed. While at Stifel, Gilberta was instrumental in the opening of the Prairie Crossing Shopping Development. She was the go to person between the Quincy City Counsel, Quincy Mayor, Chuck Scholz, local owners and developers, the Mays family of Quincy, as well as the prominent outside developers from St. Louis, the Sansone Group and the Orix Real Estate Capital Group from Chicago. This development brought stores such as Kohl’s, TJ Max and Best Buy to Quincy. Gilberta also attained the certification of Financial Divorce Practitioner through the College of Certified Financial Divorce Practitioners, DePaul University, and Chicago, IL.
